چکیده
Abstract Many reinforced concrete (RC) frame buildings in Nepal were significantly damaged by the 7.8 magnitude (M w ) earthquake on April 25, 2015. To contribute to mitigate future disasters, current study focuses two specific characteristics of residential RC capital city Nepal, Kathmandu: application brick masonry infill exterior and partition walls, conventional vertical extension building stories different from design. Although these factors are likely affect seismic performance, their effects frequently neglected practical design construction management developing countries. Hence, main objective this research is investigate clarify performance considering above through experimental numerical investigations. The present paper (1) briefly introduces a typical Kathmandu, (2) illustrates modeling parametrically three contributions walls (3) investigates wall analyses. Consequently, it was found that consideration in-plane stiffness strength resulted both positive negative low-rise (up stories) medium-rise (more than respectively, quantitatively clarifying significant presence extension. These findings provide realistic solutions upgrade utilizing or removing managing disasters not only but also other countries with similar backgrounds.

Effect of Unreinforced Masonry Infill Walls on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Framed Structures
Unreinforced Masonry infill walls (URM) are commonly used in the Reinforced Concrete (RC) framed structures as interiors and exteriors partition walls. Although they usually are not considered in the structural analysis and design, their influence on the seismic performance of the framed structures is significant. A common practice in the modern and old RC buildings is to remove the URM walls i...
متن کاملStudy the Reinforced Concrete Frame with Brick Masonry Infill due to Lateral Loads
In the building construction, framed structures are frequently used due to ease of construction and rapid progress of work. Masonry infill panels have been widely used as interior and exterior partition walls for aesthetic reasons and functional needs. When infill walls are omitted in a particular storey, a soft storey is formed compared to much stiffer other stories. The masonry infill has bee...
متن کاملInfluence of Infill Panels and their Distribution on Seismic Behavior of Existing Reinforced Concrete Buildings
Infills can highly influence the seismic response of a Reinforced Concrete (RC) building: generally speaking, their presence leads to an increase in global stiffness and strength, but their brittle behavior can result in an increase of displacement demand if a certain threshold of seismic intensity is overcome. Moreover, presence of infills often leads to a change in the collapse mechanism comp...
متن کاملProbabilistic assessment of the seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings
The main objective of this article is to assess the expected seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings from a probabilistic point of view by using Monte Carlo simulation. To do that, the seismic behavior of the building is studied by using random capacity obtained by considering the mechanical properties of the materials as random variables. Starting from the capacity curves, one can obta...
